'"Eki was swift like the wind and sprinted with haste. But surrounded by darkness, he lost his way."'
Sein to Ori upon finding Eki's Ancestral Tree

Dash is one of the two new skills found in the Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition. It is received from Eki's ancestral tree in Black Root Burrows. It is the first of the two new skills encountered in the Definitive Edition.

Overview[]

The Dash skill sends Ori forward with a strong burst of speed. It is activated by pressing RB / L Ctrl. It can only be used while Ori is on the ground. Ori will still take damage from enemies while dashing. This burst of speed lasts about half a second.

Upgrades[]

There are two upgrades on the Ability Tree which change the way Dash works. The first is Air Dash, which allows Ori to use Dash in the air as well as on the ground. Ori can only Dash once while in the air. However, moving through a Ginso Tree portal, bashing off of something, or using Kuro's Feather in a wind current will allow Ori to use air Dash again before hitting the ground.

The second upgrade is Charge Dash, which allows Ori to charge up a more powerful Dash. Using the button bound to Charge Jump (RB / W), pressing dash instead of jump once fully charged will cause Ori to perform a Charge Dash. Using Charge Dash costs one energy point. In doing so, Ori is propelled forward with more momentum and is given the opportunity to lock onto and impact enemies within a certain range. It is also repeatable in-air granted Ori has enough energy.

Trivia[]

  • Charge Dash can be utilized to reach great heights. To perform, Charge Dash to an enemy above Ori, then press Dash and Jump at the same time. The combination can also be performed while in the air.
